Gold Gains About $40 After U.S. Jobs Report, Silver Tops $62

Spot gold reached $4,226 an ounce as silver rose 1.67% during the session. September job growth came in below expectations.

Gold climbed about $40 to $4,226 an ounce after U.S. September job growth came in below expectations, while spot silver moved above $62 as precious metals advanced.

Silver rose 1.67% during the session. The metals’ gains followed a jobs report showing that U.S. employers added 29,000 positions in September.

The jobs report also revised July and August employment gains down by a combined 60,000.
