Robinhood stock-token and memecoin pairs reached about $440 million in daily trading volume in early September, as traders combined stock exposure with memecoins and onchain liquidity pools.

The pairs’ daily volume then quickly declined. Popular stock tokens tracking an ETF that follows the S&P 500, Nvidia, SpaceX and Meta had a combined market value of about $69 million.

Robinhood stock tokens track individual stocks and are backed one-for-one by corresponding shares held by custodians. Traders can pair them with memecoins in liquidity pools and exchange the assets directly. Some trading prices may diverge significantly from actual stock prices. Robinhood Stock Tokens are unavailable in the United States and to U.S. persons.

The activity on Robinhood Chain combined traditional stock exposure with memecoins and liquidity pools. The SEC previously granted temporary exemptions for certain onchain trades in tokenized U.S. stocks under specific conditions.
