Dormant Ether Movement Hits 580 Million Token-Days, Exchange Supply Reverses
Exchange supply rose by about 18,000 ETH on Sept. 30, then fell by roughly 21,000 ETH the next day.

Long-inactive Ether (ETH) moved in large volumes on Sept. 30, while exchange supply rose briefly before falling the next day, leaving the movement without a sustained increase in exchange balances.
Ethereum’s Age Consumed metric reached about 580 million token-days, roughly nine times its September weekday average and its highest level since June 2. The metric tracks token movement while accounting for how long the coins had remained inactive.
Exchange supply increased by about 18,000 ETH on Sept. 30, then declined by roughly 21,000 ETH on Oct. 1. That change was small beside the approximately 5.9 million ETH held on trading platforms.
The contrast with June 2 was larger: when Age Consumed last reached a major high, exchange balances rose by more than 140,000 ETH. The latest movement does not identify who transferred the coins or establish that they were intended for sale. Earlier spikes have coincided with wallet reorganizations.
The activity follows other moves by long-inactive Ethereum wallets, including an early Ethereum whale’s transfer of 133,298 ETH.
