Bitcoin analyst Willy Woo estimated that about 8% of countries have policies to buy or hold Bitcoin (BTC), while roughly 12% of countries actually hold the cryptocurrency.

Woo also estimated that about 5% of the world’s population owns Bitcoin. He distinguished countries with purchase or holding policies from those that currently hold the asset.
