Bitcoin (BTC) remained below its 2026 opening price after briefly reaching $87,000, leaving the $87,570 level as a marker for whether the cryptocurrency has moved above its year-start value.

BTC closed the week at $86,532 on Bitstamp. Its brief move to $87,000 still fell short of the opening level.

Market participants are also watching the Federal Reserve's scheduled release of minutes from its Sept. 15-16 meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Analyst levels place potential support near $82,500 and resistance around $86,700. A decisive move above resistance could open a higher trading range capped at $93,700. These are market levels, not confirmed price targets.

Bitcoin gained 1.4% over the first three days of October, compared with a historical average decline of 0.66% for that period.
