Yemen’s government forces say they have retaken the Red Sea port city of Mokha, a claimed battlefield shift near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait that comes as regional tensions keep energy markets alert to supply risks.

The government forces also reported taking coastal positions near the strait and launching an offensive toward Sanaa, Yemen’s capital, which the Houthis have controlled since 2014. The recapture claim has not been independently confirmed in the supplied reporting.

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye agreed Monday to deploy forces to support the kingdom and activate deterrence measures amid Houthi attacks. On Monday evening, attacks targeted airports in Jazan and Najran, injuring three people and causing limited damage, Saudi aviation authorities said.

Brent crude futures for December delivery traded at $100.12 a barrel early Tuesday, down 0.3%. U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures for November delivery were down nearly 0.9% at $88.63.

Mokha lies about 75 kilometers north of Bab el-Mandeb, a maritime passage linking the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. The port city’s control has shifted during the latest escalation, while oil markets remain sensitive to possible disruptions across the region.
