Nvidia Shares Turn $1,000 Invested in 2023 Into $16,765

Nvidia shares delivered substantial gains for investors who bought at the beginning of the artificial-intelligence investment boom, with a $1,000 investment made at the start of 2023 growing to about $16,765 by Oct. 6, 2026.

The calculation uses Nvidia’s $14.27 closing price on Jan. 3, 2023, and its $239.24 close on Oct. 6, 2026, at 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC). The investment would have gained approximately 1,576.52% based on the closing-price comparison.

Equivalent $1,000 investments made at the start of later years produced smaller gains. An investment based on the Jan. 2, 2024, close of $48.03 would have been worth about $4,981.05. Investments based on the Jan. 2, 2025, and Jan. 2, 2026, closes would have reached approximately $1,729.74 and $1,266.83, respectively.

The figures are approximate price-return calculations based on closing prices and exclude the effects of intraday trading. They do not represent the result of a full investment account after other possible costs or distributions.

Nvidia’s recent performance has coincided with strong demand for its artificial-intelligence data-center products. The company has also expanded its share-repurchase authorization.

Nvidia’s board authorized an additional $150 billion for the program on Sept. 28, bringing the remaining authorization to $235 billion. The company expects to use that authorization through fiscal 2028.

“NVIDIA’s growth is being driven by a once-in-a-generation platform shift to AI and accelerated computing,” Nvidia founder and CEO Jensen Huang said.

“Our cash generation gives us the capacity to invest in the technologies that advance this transformation and return capital to shareholders,” Huang said.
