Bitcoin (BTC) fell below $84,000 early Wednesday as a broad crypto-market selloff weighed more heavily on smaller tokens and decentralized-finance assets.

Bitcoin reached $83,647.88 over the 24 hours ending Oct. 7. Ether (ETH) traded at $2,581.30, while decentralized-finance tokens fell nearly 6% and memecoins declined about 5% over the same period.

The decline came as markets reacted to rising oil prices and broader pressure on risk-sensitive assets. Futures trading volume increased 16% to $182.85 billion, while open interest slipped 1% to $152.60 billion.

The market entered the latest decline after U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $119 million in net inflows Tuesday, Oct. 6.
