Wallets attributed to the U.S. government transferred 833.599 Bitcoin (BTC), valued at about $71.56 million at the time, to Coinbase Prime deposit addresses on Oct. 7, a move traders are watching for possible selling pressure.

The transfer does not confirm that any Bitcoin was sold or that a sale order was placed. Coinbase Prime provides institutional custody and trading services, so the movement could reflect custody, consolidation or other asset management.

Blockchain labels linked about 568.7 BTC to forfeited assets associated with the Sergei Potapenko and Ivan Turõgin case. Another 264.9 BTC was linked to the seizure tied to the 2016 Bitfinex hack.

The same government-attributed activity included 40,285 BNB valued at about $31.63 million, putting the reported value of both movements at roughly $103.19 million.

The transfer comes after Executive Order 14233 established the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve in March 2025 and directed that Bitcoin deposited into the reserve shall not be sold. The available blockchain data does not establish whether this Bitcoin had been formally placed in the reserve.
