The Nasdaq Composite slipped to about 27,499 Wednesday after closing at a record 27,599.79 in the previous session, giving back some ground after two consecutive record finishes.
The index rose 0.45% Tuesday to reach its latest record. The S&P 500 also set a record after gaining 0.58% to 7,818.93, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 253 points to 51,521.
Artificial intelligence-linked chip stocks helped lift Tuesday’s session. Higher oil prices and Treasury yields kept the advance concentrated among large technology companies.
The previous record-setting session highlighted Federal Reserve meeting minutes and corporate earnings as the next major checks on whether the market advance can continue.
