Ether (ETH) was reported near $2,700 on Oct. 7 as technical levels left a possible move above resistance and a pullback toward support in play.

Ether closed at $2,697.17 on Oct. 6, with the daily figure measured in UTC. The 20-day exponential moving average stood at $2,656.14, while the 50-day, 100-day and 200-day EMAs were at $2,500.94, $2,329.60 and $2,293.37, respectively.

A move above $2,700 would support the bullish breakout scenario. A rejection could bring Ether back toward support at the 20-day EMA, $2,656.14.

Ted Pillows wrote in an Oct. 6 post on X that Ether had been rising gradually without revisiting recent lows. “$ETH has been slowly grinding up for weeks, leaving the lows untouched. At some point, these lows will be retested before the next big move,” Pillows wrote.

The $33.27 billion open-interest reading indicates substantial active derivatives positioning. That positioning can amplify moves when leverage or liquidations are involved, but the figure does not establish that a breakout will occur.

At the time the data was accessed, Ethereum’s page displayed $52.236 billion in total value locked across decentralized finance applications. It also displayed 543,308 active addresses and 1.96 million transactions over 24 hours.

Those figures provide context for Ether’s price action but do not confirm a move above $2,700. The key levels remain resistance near $2,700 and support at $2,656.14.

The setup follows earlier technical analysis of Ether’s key price levels, which also highlighted the importance of resistance and support zones.
