Crypto liquidations totaled $255.9 million across 49,168 orders in the 24 hours ending Oct. 8 at 2:15 a.m. ET, with long positions accounting for most of the losses.
Long liquidations reached $224.6 million, or 88% of the total, while short liquidations accounted for $31.3 million. Liquidation occurs when a leveraged position is forcibly closed after failing to meet required margin levels.
Binance recorded the largest exchange total at $174.4 million. OKX followed with $43.3 million, while Bybit recorded $38.2 million.
Bitcoin (BTC) led liquidations by asset at $79.1 million. BTC long liquidations reached $74 million, compared with $5.1 million in short liquidations.
Ether (ETH) liquidations totaled $60.6 million, including $54.7 million from long positions and $5.9 million from short positions.
Solana (SOL) recorded $15.4 million in liquidations, with $14.3 million from longs and $1.1 million from shorts. ZEC liquidations reached $13.6 million, split between $10.8 million in long positions and $2.8 million in short positions.
XRP liquidations totaled $11.6 million. Longs accounted for $11.3 million, while shorts contributed $338,633.
Dogecoin (DOGE) liquidations reached $7.6 million, including $6.6 million in long positions and $1.1 million in shorts.
The largest single liquidation was an $11.8 million BTC long position on Binance at 12:20 a.m. ET on Oct. 8. The figures cover forced liquidations on Binance, Bybit and OKX during the 24-hour period.
