U.S. Government-Linked Address Moves $1 Billion in Bitcoin

The address transferred 12,267 BTC at 9:33 a.m. ET Thursday after related wallets sent more than 6,200 BTC to Coinbase Prime over two days.

A U.S. government-linked address transferred 12,267 Bitcoin (BTC) worth about $1.01 billion Thursday morning.

The transfer occurred at 9:33 a.m. ET (13:33 UTC) on Oct. 8. The address is labeled “U.S. government: Bitfinex hacker seized funds,” linking the wallet to Bitcoin seized in connection with the Bitfinex hack.

Related U.S. government addresses transferred more than 6,200 BTC to Coinbase Prime during the previous two days.

The latest transfer was valued at approximately $1.01 billion at the time of the transaction. The move adds to a series of large Bitcoin transfers associated with U.S. government-linked wallets.
