Bitcoin (BTC) long positions worth $13.77 million were liquidated in the hour ending at 10:13 a.m. ET (14:13 UTC) on Oct. 8, while the cryptocurrency’s price edged higher during the period.

Total Bitcoin liquidations reached $14.69 million across the hour, including $910,000 in short positions. Liquidations occur when exchanges forcibly close leveraged trades after traders can no longer meet margin requirements.

BTC traded at $82,482 at the start of the measured period and reached $82,598 by the end, an increase of 0.14%. The figures cover public liquidation data collected from Binance, Bybit and OKX and represent the combined total from those three exchanges, rather than the entire market.
