U.S. natural gas inventories rose 85 billion cubic feet for the week ended Oct. 2, exceeding expectations as total storage reached 3,500 Bcf and futures prices moved higher.
Inventories stood at 3,415 Bcf the previous week. The weekly increase was 6 Bcf above the 79-Bcf consensus estimate.
Natural gas futures gained 1.07% to $3.24 per million British thermal units at 10:31 a.m. ET (14:31 UTC) Oct. 8.
