Bitcoin Transfers Total $2.52 Billion as 12,267 BTC Leads Activity

Eight transfers over three hours included $598.1 million sent to exchanges and $155.6 million moved away from them by 11:03 a.m. ET on Oct. 8.

Eight large Bitcoin transfers totaling $2.52 billion took place over three hours ending at 11:03 a.m. ET (15:03 UTC) on Oct. 8, with exchange-bound activity exceeding transfers away from exchanges.

The largest movement involved 12,267 Bitcoin (BTC) worth $1.01 billion, sent from an unknown wallet to a newly created unknown wallet at 9:53 a.m. ET. The transfer followed an earlier 12,267 BTC movement.

Another 9,267 BTC, valued at $759.9 million, moved between unknown wallets at the same time.

Three transfers totaling $598.1 million moved Bitcoin to exchanges. An unknown wallet sent 3,267 BTC worth $269.8 million to Coinbase Institutional at 10:58 a.m. ET, while another 3,000 BTC valued at $246.3 million moved to the same platform at 10:08 a.m. ET. A separate 994 BTC transfer worth $82.1 million went to Coinbase at 10:58 a.m. ET.

Three transfers totaling $155.6 million moved Bitcoin away from Coinbase Institutional. The transfers involved 636 BTC worth $52.6 million, 624 BTC valued at $51.6 million and 623 BTC worth $51.5 million, all sent to unknown wallets at 10:58 a.m. ET.

Transfers to exchanges are commonly monitored for possible selling activity, while movements away from exchanges are often associated with potential holding activity. Neither pattern establishes what the wallets will do next.
