Ether fell 2.90% in one hour to $2,435 at 12:18 p.m. ET (16:18 UTC) on Oct. 8, extending its 24-hour decline to 5.45%. The price was measured on Binance's spot ETH/USDT market.
Ethereum (ETH) had traded at $2,508 one hour earlier before dropping to $2,435. The move erased $73 from the asset's price over the period.
Long liquidations totaled $109.24 million across Binance, Bybit and OKX during the same hour, compared with $2.19 million in short liquidations. Liquidations occur when leveraged positions are forcibly closed after traders fail to meet required margin levels.
Ethereum remained the second-largest crypto asset by market capitalization, with a market value of approximately $296.28467 billion at the time of the measurement.
