Bitwise plans to end trading in its BWOW Dogecoin ETF on Oct. 14, with the fund holding approximately $725,870 in assets as of Oct. 7 and cash distributions expected around Oct. 22.

The ETF began trading on NYSE Arca in late November 2025. Its September trading volume was approximately $51,480. BWOW recorded cumulative net outflows of $1.38 million through Sept. 25.

Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley said the fund’s performance showed that people who buy cryptocurrency through apps do not necessarily have the same preferences as ETF investors. Horsley described the result as “tragic” and said he personally holds Dogecoin.

The planned liquidation comes as U.S.-listed Dogecoin investment products remain relatively small. BWOW recorded $1.38 million in cumulative net outflows through Sept. 25.

Horsley contrasted BWOW with Bitwise’s Solana Staking ETF (BSOL), which held approximately $1.3 billion in assets. He said staking helped the product, while investors mainly sought exposure to Solana. He linked that interest to activity involving stablecoins, tokenized assets and onchain services.

Bitwise launched its NEAR ETF (NRR) in late September. The firm has also filed applications for an AI Cyber Defense ETF and an AI Bond ETF. Those filings do not guarantee that either product will launch.

BWOW’s final scheduled trading date is Oct. 14, followed by expected cash distributions around Oct. 22.
