BlackRock, Morgan Stanley Among Stocks With Earnings-Beat Track Records

Twenty-five S&P 500 companies are scheduled to report earnings during the week of Oct. 12, putting several major financial firms in focus as investors assess the impact of higher interest rates on lending, mergers and acquisitions, and startup funding.
The group includes BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, Citizens Financial Group, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Wells Fargo. The 25 companies represent nearly 5% of the S&P 500.
BlackRock is scheduled to release third-quarter results before the market opens Oct. 14. The asset manager has exceeded earnings-per-share estimates 82% of the time, while its shares have gained an average of 1.1% on the first trading day after earnings.
Morgan Stanley is also scheduled to report Oct. 14. The bank has beaten earnings estimates 80% of the time, with its shares rising an average of 1.1% the day after results.
Morgan Stanley posted record revenue and profit in the second quarter, helped by a 69% increase in equities trading revenue. Its wealth-management division also exceeded analysts’ revenue expectations during the quarter.
JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Wells Fargo are scheduled to report Oct. 13. The results will provide additional updates on how the financial sector is responding to interest-rate conditions and the broader pipeline for corporate activity and startup financing.
