Delta Earnings Lead Friday Market Watch With PepsiCo, Oil and France

Delta Air Lines is scheduled to report in the 6 a.m. ET hour, while PepsiCo’s revised earnings-growth outlook, French bond yields and energy stocks remain in focus.

US markets head into Friday with Delta Air Lines earnings, PepsiCo’s reduced growth outlook, French bond yields and oil prices among the main developments in focus.

The artificial intelligence trade weakened Thursday, while investors looked ahead to the next session’s scheduled corporate and market events. Delta is scheduled to release earnings in the 6 a.m. ET hour Friday (10:00-11:00 UTC), and CEO Ed Bastian is due to appear during the 7 a.m. ET hour (11:00-12:00 UTC).

Delta shares have fallen nearly 6% over the past three months and are down 14% from their July 2 high. The earnings release will provide the next scheduled corporate update for the airline.

PepsiCo shares rose almost 4% Thursday after the company reported beats on organic revenue, net revenue and earnings per share. PepsiCo lowered its earnings-growth outlook to 2.5% to 3.5%.

The company’s shares are down 10.6% this year and 25% from their February high.

French 10-year government bond yields were around 4.8%. The iShares MSCI France ETF, which tracks major French companies, fell 2% this week and 9% over the past month.

Oil prices also remained in focus. Brent crude futures were around $104 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate futures were near $91.

The S&P Energy sector has gained 3.8% this week. Marathon Petroleum and Valero were each up more than 9%, while ExxonMobil and Chevron were up about 2%.
