Bitcoin (BTC) short-position liquidations reached $12.34 million in the hour through 7:48 a.m. ET (11:48 a.m. UTC) on Oct. 9, as the cryptocurrency rose 1.07% to $83,456.

Total Bitcoin liquidations during the period reached $12.35 million. Short positions accounted for $12.34 million, while long-position liquidations totaled $10,000.

Bitcoin traded at $82,573 at the start of the one-hour period and climbed to $83,456 by the end, an increase of $883. The figures were collected and combined from public liquidation data on Binance, Bybit and OKX as of 7:48 a.m. ET (11:48 a.m. UTC) Oct. 9.

The tally covers those three exchanges and does not represent liquidations across the entire cryptocurrency market.
