Ripple’s recurring escrow system is scheduled to release up to 1 billion XRP on Nov. 1, 2026, but the event does not establish how much of the token will enter circulation or be sold.

Ledger-based tracking indicates the release will occur at 8 p.m. ET on Oct. 31 (00:00 UTC). The timing follows Ripple’s monthly escrow structure, which was created to make XRP supply changes more predictable.

Ripple established 55 escrow contracts containing 1 billion XRP each in Dec. 2017. The contracts were arranged to expire on the first day of successive months, allowing up to 1 billion XRP to become available to Ripple during each monthly cycle.

Unused XRP can be returned to escrow at the end of the month. For example, 500 million XRP could be placed into a new escrow contract rather than remaining outside the locked supply.

The October 2026 release involved 1 billion XRP across four transactions. A further 700 million XRP was placed back into escrow, leaving 300 million XRP outside escrow from that monthly release.

Across the 12 releases from November 2025 through October 2026, 12 billion XRP was unlocked and 8.4 billion XRP was re-escrowed. That left 3.6 billion XRP outside escrow across the period, although the total does not establish how much was sold, distributed or otherwise used.

Ripple’s June 30, 2026, holdings disclosure listed 37,656,053,914 XRP held by the company and 32.6 billion XRP in escrow. Most XRP released through the monthly process has historically been returned to escrow, making the net amount left outside escrow more relevant than the gross monthly unlock.

The upcoming event follows the recurring escrow pattern. Ledger-based tracking indicates the Nov. 1 release, but the amount that will remain outside escrow afterward has not been established.
