Putin Relayed Iran War Proposal to Trump, Kremlin Says
The message came after Trump announced a U.S.-Russia arrangement involving more than 4 million tons of diesel as fuel prices rise.

Russian President Vladimir Putin conveyed Iran’s position on a possible resolution of the conflict to President Donald Trump, the Kremlin said Saturday, adding a geopolitical dimension to a U.S.-Russia diesel arrangement announced as fuel prices rise.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin delivered the message with the agreement of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Putin had met Pezeshkian during a summit in Turkmenistan before speaking with Trump by phone.
The details of Iran’s proposed path to end the conflict were not disclosed. The war began Feb. 28 with U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iranian targets.
Trump said Friday that Russia would supply more than 4 million tons of diesel to global markets. The plan includes an immediate shipment of more than 300,000 tons, 500,000 tons in November and another 1 million tons afterward, followed by as much as 3 million additional tons depending on refinery output.
The Treasury Department issued a general license Friday temporarily waiving sanctions on Russian diesel through April 2027.
Fuel prices have climbed as attacks disrupt energy shipments and refinery operations in the region. Ukraine also criticized the diesel arrangement, arguing that easing sanctions without a Russian commitment to de-escalate could prolong the war.
