U.S. Bitcoin ETFs Post Six Uneven Sessions, $407.4M Outflow

Three inflow sessions were offset by three larger withdrawals through Oct. 8. A $21.1 million inflow on Oct. 9 narrowed the recent outflow streak but did not erase it.

Bitcoin (BTC) ETF flows turned uneven in the first six U.S. trading sessions of October, leaving a $407.4 million cumulative net outflow through Oct. 8 and raising questions about the strength of a key market support.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded inflows of $102.7 million on Oct. 1, $189.9 million on Oct. 2 and $118.8 million on Oct. 6. Those gains were outweighed by outflows of $89.8 million on Oct. 5, $484.9 million on Oct. 7 and $244.1 million on Oct. 8.

The funds recorded a $21.1 million net inflow on Oct. 9. BlackRock’s IBIT accounted for $22.4 million of the inflows, while VanEck’s HODL recorded $2.3 million. The daily gain followed a combined $678.9 million outflow across the previous five trading sessions.

Three consecutive months of ETF accumulation had supported Bitcoin’s recovery. ETF demand was still providing support, but the latest buying burst appeared to be fading toward neutral.

The mixed flow pattern leaves ETF demand moving in different directions across individual sessions rather than providing a consistent stream of capital. The $21.1 million inflow on Oct. 9 was smaller than the withdrawals recorded over the preceding five sessions.

Separately, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved Cboe BZX’s proposed rule change on Oct. 2 at 4:18 p.m. ET (20:18 UTC). The decision covers shares of 3x daily leveraged exchange-traded funds tied to Bitcoin, Ether (ETH), gold, silver, crude oil and natural gas.

The approval broadens the range of exchange-traded exposure available to U.S. investors. The decision does not establish that the leveraged products have attracted demand or diverted flows from spot Bitcoin ETFs.
