Crypto Liquidations Reach $45.7 Million as Shorts Account for 69%
Short positions accounted for $31.4 million across 27,677 orders through 8:04 p.m. ET on Oct. 10, while Ether led asset-level liquidations.

Crypto liquidations reached $45.7 million over the 24 hours ending at 8:04 p.m. ET on Oct. 10 (00:04 UTC on Oct. 11), with short positions responsible for most of the forced closures across 27,677 orders.
Short liquidations totaled $31.4 million, or 69% of the total, while long liquidations reached $14.4 million. A liquidation occurs when an exchange forcibly closes a leveraged position after a trader can no longer meet margin requirements.
Binance recorded $35.4 million in liquidations during the period. OKX followed with $7.2 million, while Bybit recorded $3.2 million.
Ether (ETH) led liquidations by asset at $5.2 million, including $4.8 million from short positions and $419,579 from long positions. STRK liquidations reached $3.9 million, with $2.9 million in shorts and $999,202 in longs.
MAGIC recorded $3.6 million in liquidations, evenly split between long and short positions at $1.8 million each.
Bitcoin (BTC) liquidations totaled $3.5 million, including $3.2 million from shorts and $278,549 from longs. NEAR reached $3.2 million, with $2.7 million in short liquidations and $503,741 in long liquidations.
Solana (SOL) recorded $2.8 million in liquidations. Short positions accounted for $2.7 million, while long liquidations totaled $129,649.
The largest single liquidation was a $1.5 million SOL short position on OKX at 10:29 a.m. ET on Oct. 10.
