Filecoin is nearing the end of a six-year vesting period that will remove 68 million FIL from annual releases, marking a major change in the token’s scheduled supply additions.

FIL is the native asset of the Filecoin decentralized-storage network. The vesting period has contributed to annual token releases, and its completion will end that portion of the release schedule.

The change comes as Filecoin (FIL) trades in an active market. FIL rose 11.10% to $1.20 in the 24 hours ending at 12:03 a.m. ET (04:03 UTC) on Oct. 10, leading gains among the 90 largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. Stablecoins were excluded from the comparison.

FIL ranked 80th by market capitalization in the same assessment.

The vesting change concerns the release of tokens allocated under the six-year schedule.
