XRP Trades Below $1.53 Forecast Target as Short-Term Averages Hold
XRP traded near $1.42 on Oct. 12, below its 20-day and 50-day moving averages but above the 200-day average at $1.28.

XRP traded near $1.42 early Monday, remaining below its 20-day and 50-day moving averages after falling short of a $1.53 forecast target set for Oct. 11, while holding above its longer-term 200-day average.
The token was priced at $1.42 at 1:24 a.m. ET (05:24 UTC) on Oct. 12, up 1.47% over 24 hours. That left XRP about 7% below the $1.53 target, which was part of a forecast range of $1.48 to $1.56.
XRP’s 50-day simple moving average stood at $1.43, while its 20-day average was $1.48. The 200-day average was $1.28, leaving the token below shorter-term trend references but above its longer-term benchmark.
Immediate resistance was identified at $1.43, followed by stronger resistance at $1.45. A move above that zone would put $1.48 and the $1.53 forecast level back in focus. Support was near $1.39, while a daily close below $1.37 would bring the $1.28 200-day average into view.
Momentum indicators provided limited confirmation of a clear direction. The 14-period relative strength index was 46.26, while the moving average convergence-divergence line and signal line were both reported at -0.0025. Bollinger Bands stood at $1.37 on the lower band, $1.48 at the middle band and $1.58 on the upper band.
Futures positioning showed a funding rate of 0.0021% over eight hours and open interest of about $417.3 million, up 0.88% over 24 hours. Account positioning was 70% long and 30% short at 3 a.m. ET (07:00 UTC), while top-trader positioning was 73% long and 27% short.
Taker buy volume totaled 9.09 million XRP during the cited one-hour period, compared with 9.29 million XRP in sell volume.
Analyst Gert van Lagen also outlined a conditional long-term scenario near $50, implying a market capitalization of about $3 trillion. Van Lagen wrote, “Symmetrical triangle targeting ±$50 at a $3T market cap.”
The scenario depends on Bitcoin (BTC) reaching about $450,000 and XRP returning to an XRP-to-Bitcoin ratio near 0.00011, with no deadline provided. The latest setup extends TokenPost’s earlier XRP analysis focused on key support levels, while current data show the token below its shorter-term averages.
