Goldman Sachs has turned more bullish on global stocks, raising its three-month equity rating as resilient earnings and improved valuations support markets trading near historic highs.

The firm moved its three-month view from neutral to overweight, bringing it in line with its bullish outlook for the next 12 months. The change comes before the third-quarter earnings season, when corporate results are expected to remain a central focus for investors.

Higher oil prices and bond yields had slowed the stock market’s advance and put pressure on valuations. That pressure has since eased, improving the balance between potential returns and risks.

Corporate earnings continue to provide support for equities, while the market’s proximity to record levels leaves earnings results important for the next phase of trading.

Bank of America has also become more positive on U.S. stocks, with strong earnings expectations supporting its view. Barclays has raised its outlook as corporate earnings remain resilient.
