U.S. Stocks Open Mixed as Nasdaq Falls 0.21% on Oct. 12

U.S. stocks opened mixed Oct. 12, with the Nasdaq Composite down 0.21% as the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.03% and the S&P 500 held steady.

The opening moves put the three major U.S. equity indexes in different positions at the start of trading. The Dow edged higher, the Nasdaq declined and the S&P 500 was unchanged.
