Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. reported strong revenue growth in September as estimates for artificial intelligence investment point to unprecedented spending on chips, data centers and networking equipment.

TSMC posted September revenue of approximately NT$511.86 billion, down 0.6% from August but up 54.6% from September 2025. Revenue for the first nine months reached NT$3,898.73 billion, an increase of 41.1% from the same period a year earlier.

The figures show continued momentum at one of the world’s largest contract chipmakers as companies expand infrastructure for AI systems. They also come as the projected cost of that expansion continues to rise.

Global AI-related investment could reach $1 trillion in 2026, including $581 billion in the United States. U.S. hyperscaler capital expenditures are estimated at about $800 billion.

The scale of planned spending has increased attention on whether technology companies can generate sufficient returns from new data centers, advanced processors and related equipment. The available figures establish the size of the investment plans but do not determine how those projects will perform financially.

TSMC is scheduled to report third-quarter results at 2 a.m. ET (06:00 UTC) on Oct. 15.
