Whuffie (WHUF) is trading below its $4.20 initial coin offering price as the project prepares to return USDC in batches and burn the corresponding tokens after sanctions screening.

The price-protection mechanism is operating as designed, but 23% of the original purchases were not covered during the protection window. That group now represents the largest source of outflow.

Redemptions for non-sanctioned users have been automated. Sumsub flagged five people who failed screening; the reasons included terrorism and criminal activity. The team expects the batch returns and corresponding burns to take at least several days.

Liquidity was focused on Coinbase, with two market makers hired and 175 basis points of liquidity allocated to centralized exchanges, compared with about 25 basis points on-chain. The launch pool held about 20,000 WHUF and less than $100,000 in USDC.

Auction buyers sold about 101,000 WHUF during the first hour after transfers were unlocked. A single $10,000 sell order moved the price nearly 20%. Of 1,402 auction wallets, 298 sold, and 92% of those sales occurred during the first three hours.

Liquidity within 2% of the market price sometimes stood at only $10,000 to $40,000. The project did not pay for exchange listings and reserved $7.14 million from its ICO proceeds for price protection.

The public sale distributed 20% of the total supply, primarily to the community, with protocol-use rewards and ICO price protection included. Coinbase had previously placed WHUF on its listing roadmap and later put the WHUF-USD pair in limit-only mode while transfers remained locked.
