Bumble Inc. shares climbed 49.61% Monday after reports of advanced discussions to take the dating-app operator private at a valuation of roughly $1 billion.

The stock gained $1.26 to close at $3.80 on Oct. 12, after opening at $2.50 and reaching as high as $3.98 during the Nasdaq session, which ended at 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC). The previous close was $2.54.

Ithaca Holdings was identified as the prospective buyer. The holding company was founded by Silicon Valley executives Ravi Gupta and John Hegeman.

The discussions have not produced a completed transaction. No definitive merger agreement, offer price per share or closing timetable was confirmed, and Bumble had not announced a takeover in its latest investor-relations updates.

Bumble, which owns Bumble, Badoo and BFF, went public on Nasdaq in February 2021 under the ticker BMBL. The company has faced weaker growth in online dating, with annual revenue falling nearly 10% to about $966 million in 2025 while total paying users declined more than 11% to about 3.7 million.
