XRP futures open interest rose as the token recovered toward $1.60, showing that the value of outstanding derivatives positions increased alongside the market’s advance.

XRP traded between $1.55 and $1.60 during the rally described across September and early October. Futures open interest climbed from about $360 million during the August decline to approximately $620 million as the token approached $1.60.

Open interest measures futures positions that remain open and unsettled. It can increase when traders add positions and decline when positions are closed or liquidated. Rising open interest alongside a higher price indicates that derivatives activity expanded during the move, but it does not establish that leverage caused the price increase.

Binance’s average XRP open interest over the preceding 30 days reached $511 million, described as an eight-month high. The exchange-level figure covers a different scope from total-market open interest and should not be treated as a direct comparison with the broader estimate.

XRP’s move above $1.60 and the rise in derivatives activity extend the market conditions described in earlier coverage of the token’s breakout.
