Crypto sector performance diverged this week, with Social and Data Availability advancing sharply while NFT Applications and Store of Value posted double-digit losses.
As of Oct. 13, on a weekly fully diluted market capitalization weighted basis, only 3 of 25 sectors rose while 22 declined. Social led with a 29% gain, followed by Data Availability at 20%. The Bitcoin Ecosystem stayed positive at 4.9%, but lagged far behind the top two sectors.
On the weaker side, NFT Applications ranked last with a 14% drop. Store of Value fell 12%, Gen 1 Smart Contract lost 12%, Privacy Coin declined 11% and Memecoin slipped 9.9%, putting much of the lower end of the table near or inside double-digit losses.
In the mid-to-lower tier, DeFi fell 10.1% and AI lost 9.7%, while XRP dropped 9.1% and Smart Contract Platform declined 9.5%. DePIN fell 8.4%, Staking Services lost 8.2%, and Ethereum, Utilities and Services, Oracle, Gaming, Bridge, Data Services, Perp DEX, Exchange Tokens and RWA also remained in negative territory, with declines ranging from 4.7% to 7.5%.
Even the relatively defensive end of the market failed to turn higher, with Bitcoin down 2.6% and File Storage off 1.1%. The data point to a narrow rotation toward clearly defined themes such as social and data infrastructure amid broader risk reduction across crypto sectors.
