Goldman Sachs shares closed below their 20-, 50- and 200-day exponential moving averages on Oct. 12, as weak daily technical readings preceded the bank’s third-quarter 2026 earnings release the next day.

The stock ended at $893.95, down 0.15% from the previous close of $895.32. It opened at $898.39, reached an intraday high of $902.29 and fell as low as $887.78 before the 4 p.m. ET (8 p.m. UTC) close.

The 20-day EMA stood at $923.14, while the 50-day EMA was $966.68. The 200-day EMA was also above the closing price. The close therefore remained below all three daily trend measures.

Daily momentum readings were weak. The 14-day relative strength index was 34.42, while the moving average convergence-divergence line was negative at -30.05. Its histogram was positive at 0.54.

Hourly indicators were stronger than the daily readings. The hourly RSI14 was 55.74, and the hourly MACD histogram was 0.68. Goldman Sachs traded above its 20-hour EMA of $890.49 but below its 50-hour EMA of $894.12 and 200-hour EMA of $942.79.

Goldman Sachs reported third-quarter net revenue of $18.68 billion, net earnings of $5.29 billion and diluted earnings per share of $17.01 for the quarter ended Sept. 30. Annualized return on average common shareholders’ equity was 18.7%.

“Against the backdrop of a complicated operating environment, our clients continued to turn to Goldman Sachs for our world-class advice, execution and financing capabilities, resulting in our second highest quarterly net revenues and record year-to-date net revenues,” Chairman and CEO David Solomon said.

The earnings figures covered the quarter ended Sept. 30 and were released after the Oct. 12 trading session. They did not affect that session’s closing price. Goldman Sachs scheduled its third-quarter earnings call for 9:30 a.m. ET (1:30 p.m. UTC) on Oct. 13.
