Sharp losses across South Korean chip shares and Hong Kong-listed memory-linked products put Asian risk appetite in focus, giving crypto investors a cross-market signal to watch as selling extended beyond benchmark stocks.

South Korea’s benchmark KOSPI index fell 7%, while SK Hynix shares dropped 10% and Samsung Electronics declined nearly 8%. A Hong Kong-listed two-times-long product tied to SK Hynix slid more than 22%, while a Samsung-linked counterpart lost more than 20%. Montage Technology fell more than 9%, and GigaDevice dropped more than 6%.

The steepest declines came in products tied to the Korean chipmakers: the Hynix-linked product fell more than twice as much as the underlying stock, while the Samsung-linked product’s loss exceeded Samsung’s by more than 12 percentage points. Related technology shares also retreated, extending the selloff beyond the Korean chipmakers and Hong Kong-listed products. For crypto investors, the breadth of this selloff offers a cross-market gauge of regional risk appetite.
