Crypto’s total market value rose 39.6% in Q3 2026 to $3 trillion, ending three consecutive quarterly declines and marking its largest quarterly gain since Q4 2024.

Spot trading volume on centralized exchanges fell 14.2% from the previous quarter to $1.65 trillion. Perpetual-futures open interest moved in the opposite direction, rising 40.6% and returning above $100 billion.

The recovery was concentrated in August. Doubled U.S. Treasury buybacks and net inflows to Bitcoin exchange-traded funds were key drivers of the rally.

Ether (ETH) posted a 71% Q3 gain, reaching $2,684 and outperforming the broader crypto market. Ether ETFs recorded $3.1 billion in net inflows during the quarter.
