Bitcoin (BTC) short positions accounted for $13.16 million in liquidations during the hour ending 10:55 a.m. ET (14:55 UTC) Oct. 15.

The combined figure for Binance, Bybit and OKX was $15.13 million, including $1.97 million in long liquidations and $13.16 million in short liquidations. Short-side liquidations made up the larger share of the total.

Bitcoin's price rose from $79,869 at the start of the same hour to $81,873 at its end, a $2,004 increase and a 2.51% gain. Both the price change and liquidation totals refer to the one-hour window ending at 10:55 a.m. ET.

The tally covers publicly available liquidation data from the three exchanges at that cutoff. It does not represent liquidations across the entire crypto market. Bitcoin is the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
