September CPI Rose 0.6% as Bitcoin Recovered Above $82,000
Core CPI increased 0.3% for the month, while gasoline prices rose 9.1% and drove more than half of the monthly increase in the overall index.

September’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.6% from August, while Bitcoin (BTC) recovered above $82,000 by Thursday afternoon after an overnight dip below $80,000, putting the latest price move against a fresh inflation reading.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released the CPI data Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 8:30 a.m. ET (12:30 UTC). The overall index was up 3.7% from a year earlier through September.
Inflation excluding food and energy rose 0.3% in September and 2.6% over the year. A 9.1% increase in gasoline made up more than half of September’s monthly CPI rise.
Bitcoin moved back above $82,000 after falling below $80,000 overnight on Oct. 15. It was above $82,000 at 1 p.m. ET (17:00 UTC). The recovery continued a move from near $80,000 covered in an earlier Bitcoin update.
