Jim Cramer Says AI Sell-Off Exposes Risks of Concentrated Portfolios
Three non-chip stocks rose at least 3.6% Thursday, while the iShares Semiconductor ETF extended its losing streak to eight sessions.

Mad Money host Jim Cramer pointed to this week’s divergence between artificial intelligence-linked stocks and other shares as a reminder that investors concentrated in one market theme can face losses when market leadership shifts.
Kimberly-Clark rose 4.7% Thursday, Oct. 15, while Waste Management gained 3.9% and Eli Lilly advanced 3.6%. All three stocks were up at least 6% for the week. The iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX), meanwhile, fell for an eighth consecutive session, its longest losing streak in more than a decade.
Cramer cited the Charitable Trust’s decision to sell Corning on Sept. 1 and buy Kimberly-Clark the next day to reduce data-center exposure. The trade initially looked poorly timed as Corning rose and Kimberly-Clark declined. Since the sale, Corning has fallen nearly 5%, while Kimberly-Clark has gained more than 10% from its Oct. 1 low. The trust added to its Kimberly-Clark position several times and has an unrealized loss of less than 1% on it.
Cramer said the duration of the rotation away from AI remains uncertain. He warned that losses from an oversized position in one sector could lead investors to abandon the market altogether. The shift follows earlier discussion of chip demand during a six-session slump.
