Stablecoin payment value climbed 45% to $482 billion through Sept. 30, while payment counts rose faster and supply barely changed.

The number of payments increased 71% to 1.04 billion. Payment counts grew faster than total payment value.

Payment activity is measured through Sept. 30, while stablecoin supply is measured at the end of the month.

Stablecoin supply stood at $305 billion at the end of September, just 0.4% above its level at the start of the year. Payment value therefore grew substantially faster than supply over the period.

Payment data track activity over time, while supply reflects the amount outstanding at a point in time.

The count and dollar value of payments are separate measures of that activity.

Together, the figures show payment activity expanded much faster than stablecoin supply through September.
