Bitcoin Owner Estimate Reaches 373 Million, but Country Rankings Track Crypto Use
The June 2026 estimate rose 2.5% from December, while available country figures count broader crypto ownership and adoption measures.

An estimate puts the number of Bitcoin owners worldwide at 373 million in June 2026, but available country figures and adoption rankings do not show which nation has the most BTC holders.
The estimate rose 2.5% from 364 million in December 2025 and represented 48.3% of global crypto owners. It is a global figure, not a country-by-country count of people who own Bitcoin.
The available country figures count people estimated to own cryptocurrency overall, not Bitcoin specifically. A grassroots adoption index ranked Brazil first, the United States second and India sixth for July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. Its measures include service flows, domestic peer-to-peer activity, cross-border transfers and on-chain balances. The rankings reflect broad crypto adoption measures, not a count of Bitcoin holders.
The global estimate combines on-chain data with surveys, blended parameters and internal data. The model may count some people visible on-chain even if they have sold their crypto, while missing over-the-counter trading and people without on-chain histories. Sampling bias is also a limitation.
A separate estimate puts the number of investors holding Bitcoin and Ether through U.S. spot ETFs beyond on-chain figures at 300,000 to 1.3 million.
A separate estimate counted 562 million crypto owners in 2024, up from 420 million in 2023. That estimate covers crypto ownership broadly and a different period, so it is not a like-for-like comparison with the June 2026 Bitcoin figure.
