At 4:12 a.m. ET (08:12 UTC) on Oct. 17, DOT stood near $1.16, roughly 8.7% below its $1.27 level on Oct. 10; Referenda #1710 and #1944 are recorded as executed.

Annual issuance fell from 120 million to 55 million DOT on March 14, 2026, under Referendum #1710, which also set a 2.1 billion DOT supply cap. The schedule limits the flow of newly issued tokens, though those supply terms alone do not establish whether demand for DOT has changed. The change builds on Polkadot’s earlier supply overhaul.

Referendum #1944 is marked executed and calls for a protocol-owned dotUSD asset and a DOT–dotUSD liquidity pool on Asset Hub. The plan allocates $2.5 million in USDT to mint dotUSD and $2.5 million in DOT to the pool. The execution status does not establish dotUSD’s current supply, trading depth or usage. The proposal follows Polkadot’s earlier OpenGov approval of dotUSD.
