Dogecoin trading volume dropped 58.9% to $596.5 million in the period ending 8 p.m. ET Saturday, Oct. 17 (0000 UTC Oct. 18), as DOGE extended its run of lower closes to four.

The total fell from $1.45 billion in the preceding daily period. DOGE closed at $0.079260, compared with $0.080845 at the previous daily close, a decline of about 2%.

The steep volume comparison followed a sharp rise in activity. The two daily totals before the $1.45 billion session were $726.3 million and $655.3 million. The latest figure was 17.9% below the higher of those two readings.

The volume measure combines trading across centralized and decentralized exchanges. It records the amount traded across those venues, while the closing prices show DOGE moved lower over the same daily periods. Those figures do not identify what drove the changes or which side initiated more trades.
