Bitcoin and Ether Rebound After Selloff Triggers Leveraged Liquidations
AI and semiconductor-linked perpetuals fell as much as 5.45%, while Ether recovered to $2,410 after dropping to $2,360.

Bitcoin and Ether fell sharply during weekend trading before rebounding, while perpetual contracts tied to several AI and semiconductor stocks also plunged, triggering leveraged liquidations ahead of Monday’s U.S. session.
Bitcoin (BTC) slid about $1,000 before recovering $1,200. Ether (ETH) dropped from $2,420 to $2,360, then climbed to $2,410.
Perpetual contracts linked to SOXL, SNDK and MU fell 5.45%, 3.6% and 3.42%, respectively. Most of those losses were quickly erased, but leveraged positions worth millions of dollars were liquidated.
The moves came as markets headed into a new week after losses across global equities. The S&P 500 fell 2% last week, while the Nasdaq 100 and Nikkei declined roughly 5% and South Korea’s KOSPI lost nearly 14%.
The price swings coincided with renewed attacks in the Ukraine-Russia war. President Zelenskyy said Ukraine would resume strikes on Russian energy sites after the two sides agreed earlier in the week to avoid attacks on energy facilities.
Talk of a “Black Monday” grew over the weekend after global markets ended the prior week lower.
