Bitwise’s Ryan Rasmussen sees potential upside above $100,000, while LO:TECH’s Adam Morgan McCarthy puts his base case at $85,000 to $95,000.

Analysts hold different views on whether Bitcoin (BTC) can finish 2026 above $100,000, as September inflation and the Federal Reserve’s rate path shape expectations for the final months of the year.

Ryan Rasmussen, Bitwise’s head of research, said he expects Bitcoin to end the year higher, potentially above $100,000. He points to institutional demand through exchange-traded funds (ETFs), corporate purchases, interest in hard assets amid inflation and government debt, and clearer regulation.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs took in roughly $6 billion in the third quarter, including $3.5 billion in August. The inflows brought year-to-date net flows back into positive territory. James Butterfill, CoinShares’ head of research, said sustained allocations would be needed for a decisive breakout.

Adam Morgan McCarthy, LO:TECH’s head of research, puts his base case at $85,000 to $95,000 through year-end. He sees a move above $100,000 as possible if expectations for a December rate hike shift toward a pause, with lower oil prices and easing inflation.

The Federal Reserve raised its target range by 25 basis points to 3.75% to 4% on Sept. 16. U.S. consumer prices rose 0.6% in September from the prior month and 3.7% year over year. Core prices increased 0.3% month over month and 2.6% year over year.

Gasoline prices climbed 9.1% in September, accounting for more than half of the monthly increase in headline inflation. The figures were released Oct. 14 at 8:30 a.m. ET (12:30 UTC).

Luca Invernizzi, a senior derivatives trader at Laser Digital, said a decisive move above $90,000 could prompt short covering, when traders who bet against an asset buy it back.

The analyst views are separate from prediction-market probabilities. TokenPost previously examined Bitcoin’s 2026 odds of touching $100,000.
