Binance Altcoin Breadth Slides to 51.6% Above 200-Day Averages
The share topped 90% earlier in October. A separate altcoin-season gauge stood at 54, below its 75-point threshold.

On Oct. 18, 51.6% of tracked coins on Binance were above their 200-day average, down from more than 90% earlier this month as the rally reached fewer assets.
The measure counts how many assets trade above an average of their prices over 200 days. It offers a view of whether an advance is broad across coins or concentrated in a smaller group.
In late August, 81% of the tracked altcoins were below that benchmark. By Sept. 19, roughly 70% were above it, the strongest reading since October 2025, while market capitalization for altcoins excluding Ethereum had topped $800 billion. The share reached 87% on Sept. 28 and moved above 90% in early October. On Oct. 18, 48.4% were below the average.
Before the decline, momentum weakened as exchange deposits rose. Weekly deposit transactions exceeded 22,700 on Binance and 8,300 on Coinbase. Deposits can precede sales, but the figures alone do not establish that selling followed.
A separate altcoin-season gauge registered 54, below its 75-point threshold. Bitcoin (BTC) dominance was 60.1%, while BTC traded near $81,500. Another index also remained below the level associated with sustained altcoin outperformance.
Earlier coverage placed a separate 100-altcoin gauge between its Bitcoin-season and altcoin-season thresholds. The measures cover different asset groups, apply different exclusions and update on different schedules, so their readings are not directly interchangeable.
During the preceding two-month advance, the altcoin market’s estimated capital movement exceeded $814 billion, without separating net inflows from changes in market capitalization. The altcoin market’s estimated retreat exceeded $134 billion over 15 days. That estimate does not establish an equivalent amount of cash leaving the market: market-cap changes and net flows measure different things.
The figures point to narrower participation, but do not establish that altcoin season has ended.
