Bitcoin Briefly Tops $82,000 as Putin-Trump-Xi Proposal Surfaces
BTC’s 24-hour high was $82,183.56 on Oct. 18. The proposed Ukraine talks were linked to the scheduled Nov. 18-19 APEC gathering in Shenzhen.

Bitcoin (BTC) moved above $82,000 on Sunday, Oct. 18, with a 24-hour high of $82,183.56 as a proposal for Russian President Vladimir Putin, U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to meet over Ukraine surfaced.
Putin reportedly raised the idea during an Oct. 9 call with Trump. The call lasted an hour and a half. Its public account lists Ukraine, Iran, bilateral relations and energy among the topics, but does not mention a three-leader meeting proposal.
The proposal was linked to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Shenzhen, China, scheduled for Nov. 18-19. That is a scheduled leaders’ gathering, not an emergency session.
Bitcoin’s 24-hour range on Oct. 18 ran from $80,582.62 to $82,183.56. A later Oct. 18 snapshot put BTC at $81,505.79, below the 24-hour high. The proposed three-leader format is distinct from separate Russia-U.S.-Ukraine trilateral talks, which would not include Xi. Timing alone does not establish that Putin’s proposal drove Bitcoin’s move higher.
