Aero to launch across four chains in two weeks, targeting onchain spot markets

Aero is set to launch across Base, Optimism, Arbitrum and Ethereum mainnet in about two weeks, targeting the onchain spot market by connecting liquidity across networks as tokenized equities and foreign exchange expand.
In an Oct. 19 interview with The Rollup, decentralized exchange developer Alexander Cutler said the new Aero was designed as a single definitive spot exchange for Ethereum and the broader onchain economy.
Cutler described spot trading as the largest opportunity in onchain markets. Spot exchanges generated about $5 billion in fees in 2025, close to the combined fees from lending, blockchains and derivatives, he said.
Deep spot liquidity will be essential as tokenized real-world assets move onchain, according to Cutler. Because derivatives derive their prices from underlying assets, spot markets representing assets such as equities must provide a foundation for price discovery.
Cutler said the market needs an onchain equivalent of the New York Stock Exchange or Nasdaq alongside an onchain CME. Hyperliquid has demonstrated demand for onchain derivatives, he added, but no platform has yet established a comparable position in spot trading.
Cutler said Aerodrome generated more revenue than any other spot exchange over the past 30 days and year to date while serving about 15% of the addressable onchain spot market. Expanding into a market roughly four times larger could provide further room for growth.
The planned entry into Robinhood Chain is part of a strategy to provide exchange infrastructure wherever new tokens are issued and traded. Cutler said securing liquidity can attract more trades, fees and revenue, allowing value to be reinvested into the ecosystem.
Cutler identified Aero's model of returning productive value beyond trading fees to liquidity providers as a competitive advantage. The project plans to apply the approach used by Velodrome and Aerodrome on Optimism and Base to new networks while expanding the overall spot market through tokenized equities and foreign exchange.
