Papertrade's PAPER Mining Rewards Fall About 89% Before Token Trading

An Oct. 19 estimate puts the reward for a $1,000 qualifying loss at about 10,700 PAPER. The token has yet to become transferable.

Papertrade's PAPER token paid about 89% fewer mining rewards per dollar of qualifying trading losses on Oct. 19 than earlier. Some traders may sell rewards once token trading begins.

The estimate compares an earlier reward of 100 PAPER per $1 in qualifying losses with about 11 PAPER per $1 on Oct. 19. At the later rate, a $1,000 qualifying loss would produce roughly 10,700 PAPER, compared with 100,000 at the earlier rate. Papertrade calls the tokens earned on eligible losing trades mining rewards.

The 10,700 tokens would generate an estimated $2.60 to $4.90 a day in staking proceeds. At those fixed payouts, earning back $1,000 would take about 204 to 385 days. That is a projection, and it does not account for dilution from additional token issuance.

Papertrade opened trading on Oct. 10, but PAPER has yet to become transferable. Once transfers and token trading begin, some traders may sell rewards to offset their losses. In a previously tracked trading wallet, token and staking rewards reduced a roughly $1.71 million trading loss to a net loss of about $637,000.

PAPER's eventual market price could affect how much reward mining remains worthwhile. If lower prices reduce that activity, Papertrade's long-term protocol revenue could also decline.
